Reverend Dr. Dennis E. Joell, Sr., KCFI PA State Bishop
Dennis Earl Joell, Sr. was born and raised in Ambler, PA where he graduated from Wissahickon School District. Bishop Joell was licensed to preach in 1978. He was ordained at Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. T. N. Nobles, Sr. He later graduated from Elvira Baptist Seminary in 1984. Bishop Joell completed study for a Masters of Theology in 1986. In 1992 Bishop Joell completed study for a Doctorate of Divinity from Amity Theological Bible Institute.
In 1987 Bishop Joell co-founded Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Hickerson of Pittsburgh, PA. Church services were then held at the Penn Christian Academy. In February of 1990 services were moved to the Historic George Washington Carver Center of Norristown. In August of 1992, in answer to Bishop Joell’s prayers the Lord blessed Shiloh with its first property. Bishop Joell was truly blessed with a servant’s heart. It is for this reason that many ministries flourished Under Bishop Joell’s care, tutelage and leadership. In 1995 Bishop Joell was lead to join the Full Gospel Church Fellowship. In 1998 Bishop Joell led Shiloh to its current location at 610 George Street in Norristown, PA. In 1999 he was appointed to the office of Philadelphia District Overseer in the Full Gospel Church Fellowship by presiding Bishop Paul S. Morton.
In February of 2000 he was elevated to the office of General Overseer, supporting the flourishing of ministries in seven states and four countries. It was at this time that Bishop Joell also served as First and Second Moderator of the Suburban Baptist Association. Bishop Joell has been recognized many times for his service over the course of his life. He was awarded Montgomery County Man of the Year in 1973. He received the Legion of Honor Membership from the Chapel of Four Chaplains in 1979. Bishop Joell would also receive awards and acknowledgements from agencies and organizations both near and wide such as the Norristown Borough, the West End Ministerial Alliance and many more. However, it was in April of 2004 in the United Covenant Churches of Christ that he would be elevated to the office of Overseer. This was soon followed by his 2008 leadership appointment and consecration in Charlotte, N.C. as Bishop by presiding Bishop Larry D. Trotter of Sweet Holy Spirit of Chicago, Il.
However, it goes without saying that Bishop Joell’s most treasured and heartfelt posts are as husband, father, grandfather and family man. He and his wife, Overseer Valerie A. Joell have celebrated 25 years of marital bliss. They are blessed with 6 children – two sons named Dennis Jr., Jermain and four daughters named Sandra, Angel, Stephanie and Linda. They are all the more blessed with a host of grand and great-grandchildren to many to enumerate here.
Bishop Joell has been in ministry service for 39 years. His ministry, motivation, philosophy and life can be summed up in the verse found in Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together, for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.”
Reverend Valerie A. Joell, KCFI PA Suburban District Overseer
Overseer Joell’s experience began at an early age at the Calvary Baptist Church of Philadelphia. As her faith matured she became a member of the Triumph Baptist Church of Philadelphia under the leadership of Reverend James S. Hall, Jr. During her tenure at Triumph Overseer Joell served as Secretary to the Pastor and provided leadership to the Young Adult Ushers, the New Members class for children 7 to 12 years old.
In 1983 Overseer Joell attended the Evangelism Explosion Leadership Training in Newark, Delaware and completed her study in 1995. In 1989 through 1993 she also attended and graduated with honors from the Manna Bible Institute of Philadelphia, PA. In 1994 Overseer Joell was licensed to preach the gospel at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Overseer Joell was ordained in 1996 by the Suburban Baptist Association. Overseer Joell also attended Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary studying Theology and Theories of Christian Counseling in 1997. Overseer Joell was consecrated Co-Pastor of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in 1999.
Overseer Joell was elevated to Senior Pastor of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in May of 2012. She was elevated to the office of Suburban Southeastern District Overseer in November of 2015 in Kingdom Connections Fellowship International under the leadership of presiding Bishop Jerome H. Ross.
Overseer Joell’s heartfelt passion is the constant witness of God’s saving grace. Her life’s mission and passion are summed up in one of her favorite verses; The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, an he that winneth souls is wise (Proverbs 11:30).
